Raleigh B. Engle

November 30, 1940 — January 29, 2024

Raleigh B. Engle, age 83, of Gray, Kentucky, passed away on Monday January 29, 2024, at his home.


Born in the Indian Creek Community in Knox County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late G.B. Engle and Bess Laws Engle. Raleigh was a retired bus driver having worked for Greyhound Bus Lines for 36years before retiring from driving for the Knox County School System after 14years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army. Raleigh loved his family and enjoyed farming, bushhogging, UK Basketball, and his old cars.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Joan Engle; brothers, Finley Ray Engle and Ernest Engle; sisters, Henrietta Thomas and Georgie Engle, and by a niece, Robin Thomas.


Raleigh is survived by his brothers, Roger L. Engle and Henry D. Engle, nieces and nephews, David Dewayne Engle, Daniel Engle, Monica Evans, Angel Burton, Sherri Engle Bennett, and Raleigh Engle, and by many other family and friends.


Visitation will be from 12noon until 2pm on Saturday February 3, 2024, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Candle Ridge Cemetery in Gray, Kentucky.
