Rella Wynn Short

Rella Wynn Short, 97, of Corbin, passed way Friday, July 1, 2005 at the Christian Care Communities Health Center in Corbin.
Born June 5, 1908 in Harlan County to the late Chad and Flora Grills Wynn, she was a homemaker and the oldest member of the Level Green Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John W. Short in 1973; her son George Wynn; step-children Garfield Short and Sarah McConaha; 2 Brothers, John and Bethel Wynn; 2 Sisters, Jewell and Joyce Smith.
She is survived by one son, John D. Short and wife Sandra of Yorktown, Virginia; 2 step-sons, Tillman Short and wife Dorcas of Columbus, Ohio and Robert Short of LaFollette, Tennessee; and 3 step-daughters, Zola Haynes of Mebane, North Carolina, Nettie Byas of Cummins, Georgia, and Willie Rigny of Crittenden, Kentucky; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services were at 11am Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Bernard Ellison officiating. Burial followed in the Chappell Cemetery in Keavy.
The family received friends Tuesday at the funeral home.
