Rev. Richard Rogers, age 80, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Saint Joseph London.
Born in Laurel County, he was the son of the late George Washington Rogers and Mary Romines Rogers. He had worked at the GM Fisher Body plant and was pastor of Gordon Hill Deliverance Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert Earl Rogers, Doran Ray Rogers, and Casper Glen Rogers.
He is survived by his wife Violet Felts Rogers, whom he married on September 27, 1953; son, Rick Lynn Rogers; four grandchildren: Shantaine Barton, Jack Douglas "J.D." Rogers, Richie Rogers, and Jennifer Rogers; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Promise, Corey, Brody, Cooper, Rhilynn, Sarah and Caleb; siblings: Edna Coffey, Gerri Daniels and husband Bill, Faye Wyatt, Sue Hall and husband Wayne, and Ann Johnson and husband Ed, all who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, June 15, at the Dorthae Pentecostal Church with Rev. Tim Suter, Rev. Roger Miller, and Rev. Kenny Saylor officiating. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Friday, June 14, at the Dorthae Pentecostal Church.
