Russell Wilburn, age 74, of Woodbine, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday April 28, 2024.
Born in Grand Junction, Colorado, he was a retired physical therapy technician and veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam era. Russell was a member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church and loved music. He was a talented musician who played both the drums and guitar and he was a member of the Keavy Boys Gospel Group. He also loved to go horseback riding.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Alvin Wilburn and Wanda Pearl Thompson Wilburn, and by his brothers, Tommy Wilburn, Bert Wilburn, and Ronnie Standridge.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Bennett Wilburn; children, Cathie Cornett (Earl), and Shawn Wilburn (Lisa); grandchildren, Matthew Cornett (Nancy), Colby Cornett (Kailey), Michael Wilburn, and Adam Wilburn; great grandchildren, Wyatt Cornett, Mattix Maynard, and Kylee Childers; sisters, Patsy Fridal and Lynda Schultz; and by many nieces, nephews, family and friends who will mourn his passing. He will also be greatly missed by his sister in laws and brother in laws.
Visitation for Russell will be from 12-2pm on Friday May 3, 2024, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Terrell and Rev. John Laws officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hill Cemetery in the Meadowcreek Community.
