Ruth Clark Martin, 90, of the Christian Health Center in Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born in Knox County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Intha Siler Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Opal Martin; two infant sons; two sisters, Rea Clark Dawson and Joan Clark Poindexter; and on
Mrs. Martin worked many years as a sales clerk at the Quality Dress Shop on Main Street and was recognized by the Tri-County Business and Professional Women's Club as "Woman of the Day." She was a Christian by faith and had enjoyed doing needlework and gardening over the years.
She is survived by two brothers, Bill Clark of Thorsby, Alabama and Jack Clark of Rockholds; one son, Rodney Barton; one grandson, Kevin Barton; 13 nieces and nephews and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday, January 25, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Dowis Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be C.J. Clark, Aaron Miller, Terrell Medley, John Crisologo, Tim Poindexter and Joe Poindexter. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Dawson, Tommy Dawson, Todd Poindexter, Garrett Teague Jr., Ernest Wagoner and Leslie Clark.
The family of Ruth Clark Martin will receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday, January 24, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
