Ruth Muriel Masters

Ruth Muriel McVay Masters, age 79, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born January 31, 1926 in Laurel County, she was the daughter of the late Matt and Bessie Mullins McVay. She was a sales associate with J.C. Penney's for over 40 years and was a member of the 17th Street Christian Church in Corbin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Kenneth A. Masters who passed away on October 1, 2004; her sister, Imogene Roaden; sisters-in-law Jean Masters, Bobbie Ann Masters, and Brenda McVay; and brothers-in-law, L.B. Pete Petrey; and Phillip, Everett and Homer Masters.
She is survived by her son Gary Masters and his wife Donna of Corbin; daughter, Edna Fay Wilson and special friend Willie Mitchell of Corbin; grandchildren, Adam Bryant and April Chadwell; great-grandchildren, Brittany & Kendra Bryant, Kathy and William Kenneth Chadwell, and Derek Mosley; one brother, Virgil McVay of Corbin; one sister, Karen Carroll and husband Troy of Corbin; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Petrey and Rosa Lee Masters of Corbin.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2005 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Doug Martin and Bro. Ronnie Blevins officiating.
Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily.
Pallbearers will be Rob Stansbury, Stuart Stansbury, Troy Carroll, Jared Carroll, Rick Penny, Ronnie Byrley, Willie Mitchell and Eugene Sharp. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of the 17th Street Christian Church.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Friday, May 13, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
