Sallie Cornett Brewer

Sallie Cornett Brewer, 100, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at her residence. She was the oldest member of the Park Hill Baptist Church.
She was born on September 29, 1903 in Laurel County to the late William Edward and Nannie Belle Watkins Cornett. She was a former teacher and a retired beautician and cosmetologist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Walter S. Brewer, sister Mamye Farley and brother Henry Veltie Cornett.
Surviving are two daughters, Jan Rose Pope of Batavia, Ohio and Mae Royce House of Gray, Kentucky; a grandson, Steven D. Pope of Walton, Kentucky; and two great-grandchildren, Meredith Becker and Andrew Pope.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm Friday, May 28, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Lockhart and Rev. Jack Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin.
