Sallie Zelma Watkins, 93, of Gray, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2009, at the Christian Health Center.
Born in Knox County, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Dora Brice Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Gray Holiness Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan B. Watkins in 2008; son, Charles Bennie Watkins; great-grandson, Daniel Meadows; and four brothers and six sisters.
She is survived by her son, Dan E. Watkins and wife Sharon of Gray; six grandchildren, Randy Watkins and wife Joy of Jackson, TN, Jenny Hopper and husband Richard of Elkhart, IN, Charles Bennie Watkins Jr. of Jackson, TN, Angela Disney and husband Kevin of Gray, Amy Meadows and husband Barry of Gray, and Anthony Watkins of Gray; eight great-grandchildren and a great-grandson on the way, all who mourn her passing.
Visitation will be held from Noon Wednesday, Nov. 11, until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.  Rev. Johnny Farmer and Rev. R.P. Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow in the Gray Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim Middleton, Paul Brock, Herman Freeman, Barry Meadows, Anthony Watkins, Bennie Watkins Jr., and Kevin Disney. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Gray Holiness Church.
