Shellie Joetta Lawson Hash, 65, of Corbin, passed away Monday, November 25, 2019. She was born October 18, 1954 in Pineville, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Juanita Miller Lawson. She was of the Baptist faith. She retired as a dispatcher for the Corbin Police Department in 2017 and returned part time in 2018, working until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Ralph Lawson; and brother-in-law Reverend Glen Shumate.
Shellie was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children Krystal  Baker (Jason), Joe Hash (Rebecca), and Julie Moses; grandchildren Jon Taylor, Savannah and Shelby Wilson, Brady and Mayley Helton, and Beau, Carter, and Chloie Hash; and beloved sister Jeanette "Bea" Shumate.  She also leaves behind nieces and nephews Tammy Baker (Jerry), Doug Shumate (Christie), Stacy Carroll, Holly Taylor (Stephen), Brad Baker, Elijah Shumate, and Payton and Jaxon Taylor; special cousins Doyle Lawson, who she thought of as a brother (Maxine), and Earl Barton (Donna); and special friends Emily Bargo and Carolyn Peace.  She will be greatly missed by numerous relatives and friends, including special cousin Bruce Rains (Sherry) and her special furry friends Jack and Ozzy.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 pm Friday, November 29, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Hedrick, Ken Proffitt, Brad Baker, Chad Jackson, Stephen Taylor, and Scott Grove. Members of the Corbin Police and Corbin Fire Departments will serve as honorary pallbearers.
