Shirley Ann Casey

Shirley Ann (Rees) Casey, age 69, of Cosby, TN and formerly of Corbin, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Newport Medical Center in Newport, TN.
Born in Corbin, she was the daughter of the late Flem D. "Jack" Rees and Vernie Baker Rees. She worked many years as a seamstress for Steve McBurney. Shirley loved spending time with her family and was a devoted member of Park Hill Baptist Church. Since retiring to Cosby, TN, she had grown very close to her campground friends in the ICCR community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her special niece, LaLanya Maria Rees.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, John Edmond Casey; children, Kimberly Whitaker (Virgil) and Travis Casey (Tasha); grandchildren, Michael Phipps (Hope), Dalton Phipps (Keisha), Madison Phipps (Gavyn), Lucy Casey, Jordynn Green, Gary Wayne Whitaker, and Cassandra Whitaker Napier; great grandchildren, Christopher Phipps and Kamrynn Phipps; and by several siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends who mourn her passing.
Visitation will be from 12-2pm on Friday, December 31, 2021, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her service will be held at 2pm with Rev. Jack Smith and Deacon Carson Mitchell officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the Slusher Cemetery in Rockholds, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to assist with final expenses. Donations can be made by calling the funeral home, in person at the funeral home, or online by selecting the red "Donate Now" icon below. The family will receive a list of those that donate.
