Shirley Dean Cress

Shirley Dean Cress, age 80, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away at her home in Corbin on Sunday January 7, 2024.

Born in Barbourville, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Lathern Owens and Axie Crawford Owens. She was a homemaker and member of Greenland Baptist Church in Corbin. Shirley loved her UK Wildcats, and she enjoyed flowers, fishing, cooking, and sewing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Owens, Debbie Tuttle, Alta Martin, and Opal Grubb.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Cress, children, Marvin Cress Jr. (Joyce), Kenneth Cress (Susie), and Cindy Nigro (Joe), grandchildren, George Cress, Danielle Cress, Katelyn Nigro, Nicholas Nigro, Renee Helton, Dylan Cress, Emily Cress, Heather Bush, and Jonathan Bush, great grandchildren, Levi Cress, Liam Cress, and Ezra Helton, sisters Sue Cornelius and Faye Baumgartner, and by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation for Shirley will be from 12noon until 2pm on Friday January 12, 2024, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where her funeral service will be held at 2pm with Rev. Luke Day and Rev. Ken Bolin officiating.
