Steven Dewayne Messer, age 46, of Gray, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Baptist Health in Corbin.
Steven made a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. As the Bible passage in Matthew 5:16 says, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven," Steven lived his life as a luminous beacon, guiding, inspiring, and loving all who crossed his path. Despite his disability, Steven never allowed it to define him. Instead, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A man of the outdoors, he cherished the tranquility of nature and loved fishing and hunting.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Emenal "Uel" Messer and Joann Foley Messer; and by his brothers, Euell David Messer and Jimmy "ToeJoe" Messer.
He is survived by his siblings, Sherry Jenkins (Nealy), Jerry Messer (Tina), Donna Hinkle (Glen), Rhonda Johnson (Kenny), and Preston Messer; and by his children who he helped to raise like they were his own, Amber, Kayla, Seth, Stephanie, and Douglun; and by several nieces, nephews, family, and friends, including a special friend April.
