Sylvia Hall

March 5, 1928 — November 8, 2012

Our precious mother, Sylvia Hall, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, early Thursday morning, Nov. 8, 2012. She was born in Hazard, Kentucky, March 5, 1928, to the late Perry and Mae Peavler Larkey. She spent her youth in London, Kentucky and graduated from London High School in 1944. In 1945, she married Hubert Hall from Harlan County and was married for 49 years until his death.
She later met and married Roy R. Hall, who died on August 8, 2012. They were married for 9 years and enjoyed their life together very much, traveling and going to church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Hubert Hall; her husband of 9 years, Roy R. Hall; her children, James Hall and Benita Decker; her brother, Perry Larkey; her parents, Perry and Mae Peavler Larkey; and 2 grandchildren, Ashley Collins and Keagan Kinche.
She is survived by her children, Paula (Greg) Webb, who had been her loving and devoted caregivers for the last 3 years, Joanna (Harry) Shepherd, Norma (late Jim) Collins, Helen (Bob) King, Jane (Fred) Seale, Roger (Lisa) Hall, Melanie Burkhart, all of Corbin, Vicki (Danny) Roland of Owenton, Michael (Susan) Hall of Harlan County, and Pamela (Roger) Babb of Charlotte, NC, and son-in-law Ron Decker.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Mary Jane (Troy) Boggs, Vera Pedigo, Martha (LeRoy) Moore, David(Anne) Larkey, Reanna Brown, Sarah (Buddy) Johnson all of London, Tom (Darlene) Larkey of Harlan County; Her grandchildren, Jagger Webb, who lived with her, Jimmy (Kristina) Shepherd, Jimbo (Thelma) Collins, Wade (Chrystal) Collins, William and Ruth King, Stephanie (Brian) Thorpe, Natalie (Michael) Kinche, Joanna (Charlie)Gray, Tabitha and Joshua Muncy, Rachel (Adam) High, Carol (Brian) Shipes, Carlos Babb, Scarlet (Stephen) Kirby; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren and Joanna Shepherd, McKenzie, James, Sara, Kevin, Hunter, Lori, and Molly Collins, Zach and Austin Thorpe, Rylee and Brayden Kinche, Keagon Gray, Jude High, Brittany, Briana, Patience, Haley, Belle, Brian, Randy, Shyanna, and Steven Shipes, and Seth Kirby; also Many Special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was a good praying mother dedicating her life to and depending on God with many hours spent on her knees. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress and quilter. She loved to read and crochet. She served as church clerk at the Harlan Sunshine Church of God for many years. She was a member of Corbin Eastside Church of God. She was truly our rock and she will be missed so much. We love you Mommy.
Her Homecoming Celebration will be held at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012. Visitation will be held from 1pm until the Funeral at 3pm with Rev. Troy Boggs and Rev. Mark Hisle officiating. Graveside service will be at 11 am Monday at the Larkey Cemetery in London.
