Sylvia Lee Messer

Sylvia Lee Messer, 80, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2006 at Baptist Regional Medical Center.
Born August 19, 1925 in Whitley County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Stella Cavins Faddis. She was a member of Parkway Church of God and had worked as a clerk at Morgan's 5 & 10, J.C. Penney's, and in the deli of the Piggly Wiggly Food Store.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Linda Messer Houser and brother Elmer Faddis Jr.
She is survived by her husband Delbert "Tip" Messer; her children, Pauline Worley (Billy) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Pat Butler (James) of Hayden, Alabama, Ann Thorpe (Cleland) of Corbin, Brenda "Cotton" Duncan (Johnny) of Corbin, Barbara White of Corbin, Delbert "Tip" Messer, Jr. of Corbin and Wesley Messer (Mickey) of Corbin; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Humfleet officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Wednesday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
