Thelma Jean Durham, age 66, of Corbin, passed away on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at her home.
Born in Balkan, Kentucky, and of Native American descent, she was the daughter of the late Noah Barton and Gladys Wilder Barton. She was a homemaker; a member of the Dorthae Pentecostal Church; and was affiliated with the Kentucky Native American Indian Council.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Florine Cook and Dorothy Rose; her father and mother-in-law, Bob and Mae Durham; and sister-in-law, Patsy Partin.
She is survived by her husband, Rondald J. Durham, Sr.; three children: Jody Disney, Rhonda Lowe, and Rondald J. Durham, II; two grandsons; seven granddaughters; two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and two sisters, Donna Crowton and Faye Hill.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after 6:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorials be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral costs.
