Vernon Eldon Meadors, 96, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at the Corbin Nursing Home.
Born in Woodbine, he was the son of the late Curtis Meadors and Elizabeth Jane Kidd Meadors. He had been employed at the old Mitchell's Hardware Store and Sterchi's Furniture Store. He was a member and deacon of Central Baptist Church and served his country during WWII in the US Army Air Corps.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mae McHargue Meadors; brother, William Howard Meadors; and sister, Geneva C. Lovelace.
He is survived by two nieces, Judith L. Hyde of Louisville and Rosalie Castleberry of Hamilton, Ohio; a nephew, John C. Lovelace of St. George, Utah; and numerous family and friends who mourn his passing. The family sends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Corbin Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon on Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton and Rev. Harold Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10am until the funeral hour at noon Friday at the funeral home.
