Violet Mae Bishop Jones, age 72, of Corbin, KY, passed away on Friday June 2, 2023, at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY.
Born in Laurel County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Paul Bishop and Mary Scalf Bishop, Violet was a homemaker, a woman of faith, and a prayer warrior. She was member of Dorthae Pentecostal Church in Corbin, KY. Violet loved the Lord, her church, her family, and her little dog Sophie.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Bill Jones who she married on January 6, 1967, son, Billy Jones of Richmond, KY, daughter, Christie Guinn (Tommy) of Corbin, three grandchildren, Ashley Jones, Travis Jones (Nikki), and Jessica Hines (Kyler), five great grandchildren, Camira, Grayson, Ambrose, Carson, and Cayson, and she was anxiously awaiting her sixth great grandchild, Bishop. She is also survived by one brother, Mike Bishop (Brenda), of Corbin, special friend and mother-in-law, Betty Jones, and by many other family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Visitation for Violet will be from 12pm until 2pm on Tuesday June 6, 2023, at Dorthae Pentecostal Church in Corbin, where her funeral service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, with Pastor Billy Evans, Pastor Harold Sulfridge, and Pastor Brenda Baird officiating. Burial will follow in the McHargue Cemetery in Laurel County.
