Walter Thomas West

Walter Thomas West, age 83 of Gray, KY was born in Knox County on May 26, 1938 to the late Lee and Eva Ogan West and departed this life on July 24, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Freedom Point Church. He enjoyed working, deer hunting, farming, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ethel Messer West of Gray; his daughter, Tammy Vance of Barbourville; two grandchilldren, David Vance and wife Brittany of Williamsburg and Holly Vance and fiance Jason Moore of Corbin; four great grandchildren, Kirra Beth Vance, Liam Vance, and Amelia Vance all of Williamsburg, and Hadley Vance of Corbin.
Visitation will begin at 10 am Thursday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home. His funeral service will follow there at 11 am Thursday with Rev. Kenny Johnson and Rev. Randall Lee officiating. He will be laid to rest at the West family cemetery at Gray. Pallbearers will be David Vance, Jason Moore, Criss Smith, Shawn Cain, Denny Messer, and Cody Messer.
