Will "Bill" Phipps, 77, of Gray, passed away on Saturday, August 22, at his home.
He was the son of the late Fred and Lissie Perry Phipps. He was a U.S. Army veteran, had been a coal miner, and is a member of Rossland Holiness Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Valdean Rose Phipps; brothers, Will Phipps, Jr., Chester Phipps and Neal Wayne Phipps; sisters, Eulene Edwards and Cassie Wyatt; and two grandchildren, Marlana Mullins and Vanessa Lawson.
He is survived by his children, Dale Phipps and wife Patty, Larry Phipps, Barbara Sanchez and husband Javier, and Joanne Lawson and husband Doc; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Bennie Phipps; and a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be at 1 :00 pm Wednesday, August 26, at Rossland Holiness Church with Rev. R.P. Edwards and Rev. Claude Medlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Phipps Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 88.
Pallbearers will be John Lawson, Luke Lawson, Jerry Wyatt, Dennis Phipps, Christopher Phipps, Tracy Phipps, Dale Phipps Jr., and Guy Rose.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-9:00 pm Tuesday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
