William G. Hughes, age 80, passed away on December 13, 2009 in Cape Coral, FL.
He was a former Kentucky State Trooper, local businessman, and retired from L & N Railroad. He was a US Marine Veteran and a Kentucky Colonel.  He was a member of the Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge #751 F. & A.M. in Gray and of the Oleika Shrine in Lexington.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Joseph Richard and Kizzie Helton Hughes; Son, Joseph R. "Joey" Hughes; and by a Grandson, Daniel Garner Emmett.
He is survived by his Wife, Joyce Hughes; Children, Johnny B. Rowlett, Cheryl Rowlette Landrum, and Kimberly T. Hughes Younts; Grandchildren, Renae Rowlett Steinbach, Johnathon B. Rowlette, Teresa M. Partin Morton, Ashley T. Partin, Travis R. Mills, Rebecca Nicole Hughes, and Jessica Danielle Hughes; 12 Great Grandchildren; two Step Sons, Rodney and Scott Flynn; as well as a host of family and friends.
Graveside service will be held at 12noon on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Helton Cemetery on Old 25 in Gray, Ky. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 1410 of Corbin with Masonic Rites to follow by Cumberland Valley Lodge #751.
