William Paul Cox

William Paul Cox, age 89, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Gray, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Riddell Cox and Nannie Rapier Cox. William had been a die maker for Ford Motor Co. in Michigan; was Baptist by faith; and was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed creative writing, especially poems and essays.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Collette; and two brothers, K. Earl Cox and Fred Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Cox; two children: Gregory Lee Cox and wife Glenda of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Kevin Lamont Cox and wife Shaun of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four step-children: Debbie Ray of Lake Worth, Florida; Byron Hervey of Franklin Co., North Carolina; Vickie McCleary of Boynton Beach, Florida, and James Halstead of Corbin; sister, Lucy B. Shelton of Corbin; brother, George Thomas Cox of Corbin; nine grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon on Saturday until the time of the funeral.
