William R.C. Garland Jr.

William "R.C." Garland, Jr., age 74, of Gray, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Oaktree Hospital in Corbin.
Born in Kettle Island in Bell County, he was the son of the late William Garland and Lucy Mae Eastman. He was a brick mason, a member of the Rossland Holiness Church and the Tri-County AmVets, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Webb; son, Eugene Garland; and great-grandson, Troy Garland.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Joan Garland; son, Ronnie Garland and wife Karen; daughter, Peggy Smith and husband Jim; 12 grandchildren: Adrian Garland, Curtis Garland, Stephanie Rhodes, Vanessa Garland, Tyler Garland, Zachery Garland, Crystal Garland, Lisa Garland, Charlie Garland, Christopher Fox, Kaitlin Garland and Kameron Garland; 11 great-grandchildren; six brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; special family friend, Carol Griffin; and a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be at 3pm on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at the Rossland Holiness Church with Rev. Claude Medlin officiating. Burial will be in the Gray Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Friday, Feb. 22, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
