Willie Carter

Willie Carter, age 66, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky.


Born in Knox County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Everett Lee Carter and Ada Mae Smith Carter.   He was a retired truck driver from Leon Jones Trucking and he was Pentecostal by faith.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryder Carter, and by his siblings, Frances Louise Carter Henson and Patricia Carter Potter.


Willie is survived by his wife, Rita Delph Carter; children, Michael Paul Carter (Ashley), Amy Sue Carter, and Jonathan William Carter (Arisa); eleven grandchildren; siblings Carolyn Roberts (Mike), Don Carter (Dana), and Allen Dale Carter (Pam); and by several nieces, nephews, family, and many friends including special friends Mike Roberts and David Hood.


Visitation will be from 12noon until 2 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.  His funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Henson, Rev. Gary Elliott, and Rev. Stevie Hughes officiating.  Burial will follow in the Garland Cemetery in Gray, Kentucky.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help the family with funeral expenses.  To make a donation, please call or stop by the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home office, or you may select the "Tribute Fund" icon to make your online donation.  The family will be given a list of all who have helped.
