Willie Mae Jones Cowden, age 81, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at her daughter's home in Knoxville, Tennessee. For the last 14 years, she has lived and endured Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Corbin, Willie Mae spent most of her life as a farmer and homemaker. She was a member of McHargue Christian Church and also attended the Church of God.
She has joined her husband Earl Lee Cowden; parents, Willie and Seretta Jones; and sister, Jewel VanWie in her Heavenly Home.
Survivors include her sons, Leon Cowden of Corbin, Larry Cowden of Corbin, Wade Cowden and wife Loraine of London, and daughter, Elaine K. Cowden Hutchens and husband Roy of Knoxville; eight grandchildren, Bethany, Elisha, Selina, Valerie, Jason, Crystal, Derek, and Colby; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Johnnie Jones of Fairfield, Ohio, Bud Jones of Corbin, and Bill Jones of Fairfield, Ohio; sisters, Myrtle Bowling and Juanita Caldwell of Fairfield, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends, all who mourn her passing. Our special gratitude goes to caregivers, Bea Cox, Robyn Gutherless and Ruby Garner and the Covenant Home Care and Hospice of Knoxville.
Funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, December 10, at the McHargue Christian Church with Rev. Dennis Gibson and Rev. Todd Parker.  Burial will follow in the McHargue Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home.
