Zelma Verl Smith Wyatt, age 80, of Corbin, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday March 27, 2025, at her home.
Born on November 24, 1944, in Barbourville, KY, she was a radiant beacon of love and faith. Those who were blessed to know Verl will remember her for her unwavering faith, her selfless service, and her dedication to her family. Verl was a steadfast member of the Living Waters Pentecostal Church, where her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived her days reflecting the words of 1 Peter 4:10, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." A homemaker by trade, Verl transformed her home into a haven of love and warmth. Her life was a testament to her belief that serving others was the ultimate expression of her love for God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ethel Williams Smith; son, Bryon; granddaughter, Kaitlyn; brothers, Garfield and Edward; and by her sisters, Edna, Doris, Cecil, Millie, Tracea, Georgie, Roberta.
Verl is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Wyatt; children; James Wyatt(Debbie), Sheila Savageau (Ryan), Craig Wyatt (Heather), Kellea Wyatt (Dawn); grandchildren, Andrew Wyatt (Tori), Jenna Warren, Logan Savageau, John Wyatt (Diana), Emilee South (Tommy), Michael Wyatt (Lily), Alex Wyatt, Jordan Johnson, Gerald Wyatt-Hall, Noah Wyatt, William Wyatt-Hall, Troy Warren (Constance), Raul Wyatt-Hall, Joseph Warren, Savannah Downin, and Connor Savageau; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Alice, Ryleigh, Amelia Grace, Chance, Penelope, Cooper, Olivia, Noah, Harlen, Jaiden, Jameson; several nieces, nephews, and friends including her loving caretaker, Melissa Brittain.
Visitation for Verl will be held from 6-9pm on Tuesday April 1, 2025, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home in Corbin, Kentucky. Her funeral will then be held at 12noon on Wednesday April 2, 2025, at Living Waters Pentecostal Church, Hwy 25E, in Gray, Kentucky, with Rev. Charlie Humfleet and Rev. Steve Hughes officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gray Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers will be Andrew Wyatt, Michael Wyatt, John Wyatt, Troy Warren, Joseph Warren, Connor Savageau, and Logan Savageau. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Gray's Holiness Church at 4456 Hwy. 1232 Gray, KY 40734
