Charles H. Jackson, 96, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Corbin Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Corbin, Charles was the son of the late Landon and Rose Carmine Jackson. He had been a truck driver for Dixie Ohio Express and was a Navy veteran of WWII.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his former wife Frances Skinner Jackson; brothers Nolin "Jock" Jackson, and Harold "Cotton" Jackson and wife Jewell; sister Ruth Poole; and great-great-grandson Noah.
Charles is survived by his children: Sherry Waller (Paul) of Louisville, and Charles "Chuck" Jackson (Peiling) of Macon, GA; grandchildren: Tammy Thomas of Louisville, Aimee Hall (Matt) of Macon, GA, and Kim Mathews (Rob) of Newnan, GA; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brother Clyde "Spike" Jackson, all to mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 8, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Dr. Max Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery with military graveside honors. Pall Bearers will be Jockey Jackson, Trevor Thomas, Matt Hall, Rob Mathews, Ralph Smith, Jackson Hall, and Reid Mathews.
